I'm Veejhay Roy, a computer science and machine learning student focused on research and building practical applications. Below are selected projects and my background in competitive running.

I made a research paper with MIT graduate Roger Jin. We created a benchmark, RouteEval, to help test over 10,000 evaluations of running routes on 13 different LLMs. Our results showed that GPT-5 was the most accurate by a significant margin with 65% accuracy, followed by Grok-4 (55%), and Gemini-2.5-pro (52%). We submitted the research paper to ACL ARR 2025 October.
Routecraft.io hosts a blog about the RouteEval research paper and provides an interactive tool where you can enter a prompt and generate a running route. The app supports multiple models so you can compare outputs and choose the one that fits your run.
In the summer of my senior year, I went to a summer program at Columbia University where I studied data science and machine learning. We covered a variety of topics including modeling, artificial intelligence, and linear algebra. For my final project, I partnered up with a friend to create a model that detects credit card fraud. We used a voter classifier combining Logistic Regression and a Random Forest model to make a successful model. We also used data-balancing techniques like SMOTE to train the model for better performance.
My friend and I created an app, SplitDecision, to help our coaches track workout splits for the cross country and track teams. It was a really fun project that enhanced my understanding in Swift, and it's been used by over 100+ athletes at my school.
Learned about the math behind machine learning using multivariable calculus, statistics, probability, and linear algebra. Engaged in a myriad of projects using python and tools such as scikit-learn, pandas, numpy, and tensorflow. Received a certificate in the class due to my passing grade.
Running has shaped nearly every part of who I am, teaching me discipline, patience, and consistency. I've raced distances from the 400m to the 5K, earning all-county honors in cross country and track, and I'm continuously pushing to improve my personal bests and have fun :)
